Armagh District Policing Partnership (DPP) was established in March 2003 as a partnership between the District Council and representatives of the local community.
Armagh DPP has many important responsibilities for example: - Monitoring local police performance
- Giving a voice to community views on policing
- Establishing policing priorities
- Gaining the public’s cooperation to prevent crime
- Armagh DPP does this in consultation with the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s PSNIs) District Commander for Armagh District Command Unit (DCU).
| | Finding out the community’s views, concerns and policing needs enables the District Commander to prioritise and deliver an effective and efficient service for the district.Consulting with the community about local policing is therefore an important role for DPPs.
The DPP does not have the same responsibilities as the Police or the Policing Board. It deals with strategic issues not operational matters and covers the Armagh City and District Council area.
